Metamorphosis 2018-ongoing
A Transformation of Form and Function.

Metamorphosis is a series of textile sculptures that adopt the traditional shape of a vase while rejecting its functional purpose. Through a process reminiscent of biological metamorphosis, the materials undergo gradual transformation—each step bringing them closer to a finished object, yet simultaneously further from functionality, as they merge materials and forms.

The work explores the intersection of art, craft, and design, highlighting the expectations surrounding objects in everyday life. Inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis and its themes of alienation and worthlessness in a world where value is measured by utility, the vase is reimagined as an artistic subject—an object that exists beyond its intended function, thereby challenging our perception of form, material, and purpose.
