Secret Meetings 2023
Exploration of Indirect Encounters
The series Secret Meetings, consisting of ten unique works, was created during an artist-in-residence at the Nordic Art Agency in Malmö. It takes as its point of departure the concept of “indirect” meetings—those fleeting, often unnoticed moments of contact that subtly shape our perceptions of others.
Exploring the delicate language of eye contact, body posture, and facial expression, the work investigates the liminal space of preconceived notions. In everyday life, we navigate between explicit, verbal interactions and silent, unacknowledged exchanges, where interpretation and perception construct subjective narratives.
The work centers on these ephemeral moments—instances of eye contact in which meaning is suspended, left open for the viewer’s interpretation. Here, unspoken communication unfolds, suggesting truths, half-truths, or sheer mysteries. In this way, Secret Meetings becomes a meditation on silence as a form of dialogue and the deep complexity embedded within human encounters.
