Dimension 2015
Variability and Perception
Dimension explores variability and the ways in which our visual perception is shaped by external conditions. Through a methodical layering of materials, semi-transparency, and luminescent thread, a dynamic materiality emerges—one in which the textiles’ expression continuously shifts depending on the direction and intensity of light.
The work articulates a transition between visibility and invisibility—some details dissolve in daylight, while others surface in darkness. This interplay questions the stability of perception and raises fundamental inquiries: What do we see? When do we see it? And what factors shape our perception?
By allowing the materials to transform in response to light, Dimension invites the viewer into an active, ever-changing experience, where the visual is never absolute but always in flux. The work thus unfolds as a meditation on the conditions of seeing and the inherent uncertainty that shapes our understanding of reality.
