Connections 2023
An Investigation of Human Interaction and Public Spaces.
Created during an artist-in-residence at the Nordic Art Agency—where the studio was situated within a shopping center—Connections carries the imprint of its environment. The expansive shop windows functioned as an interface between the artist and the public sphere, offering an observer’s vantage point amidst the ebb and flow of human movement and interaction.
The work is a contemplative inquiry into our physical engagement with both one another and our surroundings. By capturing subtle shifts in proximity and distance, Connections highlights the choreographies that emerge in public spaces—how we approach, withdraw, and how the spatial structures around us unconsciously shape our movements.
At the heart of the work lies the non-verbal encounter: the contrast between navigating among strangers and orienting ourselves in relation to the familiar. Through a poetic yet analytical lens, Connections reflects on the shared experience of shared spaces and the fragile, yet inevitable, points of contact that unfold within them.
